It is hard to say anything that hasn't already been said, or wasn't said at the time about this game. Both sides tried their best to lose this at times, and neither succeeded. There was also flashes of brilliance from both.
One thing is for sure now though, the Australian players and cricket following public now have a new aspect of the game to learn - playing in games we can't bully our way out of. I think this underlying attitude showed with the dismissals of Gilchrist and Symmonds in particular. They are used to simply flexing their muscles and walking away with a game and it showed as the attempted rediculous shots, both to be caught, playing shots that weren't there.
A tie is fitting, not just because these one day teams are clearly so evenly matched, but also because there was a risk that the side winning (which ever it could've turned out to be) would not have recieved the necessary kick in the backside for a poor batting performance. Had Australia fallen over the line carried by Lee and McGrath, no lessons would have been learned by the batsman. The same goes for England.
So it is clear we are in for a contest. We really knew that I suppose. And this is going to be a long summer for the Aussie supporter in particular, because we have become so accustom to winning matches, and series early on. No such luxury this time I am afraid.
PS: Thanks for talking me into staying up Will - went for some sleep at about 2.00am our time, put the ear piece in - didn't get any sleep. (struggling through on 2 and half hours sleep today)
A Tie - how fitting

It was good fun Stu. I can't remember such an exciting ODI match (between either of England & Aus). The key point, for me, was that both sides could have nailed eachother down...but couldn't. Vaughan should have kept Harmison & Flintoff on, and could well have dismissed Australia for 140-150. Equally, Ponting didn't go for the jugular when England were 33-5 - that stand between Collingwood and Jones sums up England's resolve. Ah, it was brilliant. We have 25 days of Test Cricket to look forward to now - let's hope they are just as exciting
Ties are funny like this. Aus currently feel worse than England. England were the happier side after the game, but at the change of innings, England would've been devastated by the prospect of a tie, and Australia delighted. The risk for England = their top order. The risk for Australia, bowling depth.
