Under the Southern Cross I stand, a sprig of wattle in my hand...you know the rest right?
Since I've posted Australia have had two of their best three Test Victories in the past fifteen years (Adelaide 2006/07 against England being number 1) and undoubtedly their best of the post-Warne era. They have retained their number one ranking emphatically with this series win in South Africa and actually go ahead in the six test "series", 3/2.
All those out their who proclaimed with joy Australia's era as over and warned us of the sides inevitable down fall - I hope you enjoyed it. It was a horrible 6 months for us all!
South Africa on the other hand, have once again found new ways to choke. After their brilliant never say die, rise from the Ashes performances to take two tests and the series here in Australia over the summer, they rested well and truly on their laurels and let it all come undone.
For awhile, mental disintegration looked like it would come back to bite Australia on the back side - not anymore. Now we go to England with a side that has gelled and is ready to hang on to those Ashes.
We have aggressive bowlers, classy batsmen and we even saw some attacking fields...All is good again. Now, where is that leg spinner?
