Australia vs England - First Test - Day 1

Thank goodness for the Ashes!

Pure excitement as my 10 year old rang me from home, shouting down the phone, "Peter Siddle just got a hat-trick, did you see it Dad? On his birthday!" Well I didn't "see" it, but 8 of us were crowded around a little AM radio, 1945 style, listening as the commotion erupted. No limited overs hit and giggle will ever inspire that sort of behaviour.

Isn't this just the start we all wanted - by "we all" of course I mean we Aussies! The only thing better than belting England when they knew they were useless, is belting them when they thought they were good. Well played Straussy - nice shot for the third ball of series...

In all seriousness though, I've always said, you can't completely judge a low first innings total, until both sides have battered. I can't help thinking there are plenty of twists to come yet.

England all out 260, Australia 0 for 25 after day 1 - will take that anytime.
